Philippians 3:1-11

As we are striving to keep the Mind of Christ, there are many places that we can gain our confidence, many of them misplaced.  This week we see the difference between confidence in the flesh versus confidence in Christ.

Friday: Philippians 3:1 Paul tells us to rejoice, again. Why do you think Paul was okay with repeating himself?

Saturday: Philippians 3:2 What outside influences are distracting you from your walk with God? Are they obvious distractions or subtle distractions?

Monday: Philippians 3:3 What does it mean to worship God in the Spirit?

Tuesday: Philippians 3:4-6  Paul mentions his “credentials”, do you feel Paul is bragging? Why or why not?

Wednesday: Philippians 3:7-9 How easily can you lay down your life (career, money, possessions, family) for the cause of Christ?

Thursday: Philippians 3:10-11 What does “participation in His sufferings” mean?  Are you prepared to participate?

Philippians 2:19-30

As we continue in chapter 2 of the book of Philippines we will read about three men; Paul, Timothy, and Epaphroditus, and how they demonstrated having the mind of Christ.  The mind of Christ guided Paul’s decisions, Timothy work for the Gospel, and it guided Epaphroditus love beyond reason. All three men served like Jesus served

Friday: Philippians 2:19-20 Why did Paul decide to send Timothy to Phillipi? Why did Paul say there is no one else like Timothy?

Saturday: Philippians 2:21-24 Whose interest did Paul say everyone was looking out for? How did Timothy prove himself?

Monday: Philippians 2:25 Why did Paul think it necessary to send Epaphroditus back to Phillipi? (Hint Philippians 2:26) What did Paul mean when he said Epaphroditus took care of his “needs”?

Tuesday: Philippians 2:26-27 Who was distressed because the Phillipians heard he was ill? God had mercy on Epaphroditus, but why did Paul say God Had mercy on him also? Paul wrote about himself “to live is Christ and to die is gain”. How do you think he would have mourned Epaphroditus’ death? (Hint 1 Thessalonians 4:13)

Wednesday: Philippians 2:28 Why was Paul so eager to send Epaphroditus back to Phillipi.

Thursday: Philippians 2:29-30 What did do these verses say about the Philippians affection for Epaphroditus? What do they say about the lengths he went to serve Paul

Philippians 2:12-18

Growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ and being strengthened in our walk can be a daunting task.  This week we will look at the task of growth, but also where that growth ultimately comes from.

Friday: Philippians 2:12 What does it mean to “work out your salvation”?  Why should we be working out our salvation with fear and trembling?

Saturday: Philippians 2:13 Before we work out, God works in us.  Do you see your desires and actions as a working of God for His purpose? How should that change the way we think and act?

Monday: Philippians 2:14 Why is it easier to call out “big” sin, while downplaying the sin of grumbling and arguing?  How often do you find yourself speaking/thinking negatively?

Tuesday: Philippians 2:15 Do you believe you appear different from this “warped and crooked generation”?

Wednesday: Philippians 2:15b-16 In what ways do you shine the light of Christ in our world? Paul was able to boast in the lives and the example of the Philippian believers: Who has made an impact on your walk with Jesus?  Who have you impacted?

Thursday: Philippians 2:17-18 In what ways have you sacrificed for or served others? Do you rejoice in that sacrifice/service or do you grumble?

  • Philippians 2:1-11

As we continue our journey of joy through the book of Philippians this week Paul begins chapter 2 by sharing how we can find joy through unity. In this section we are called to be liked minded with Paul, other believers and with Christ Himself.

Friday: Philippians 2:1-2According to these two verses what should be the basis of Christian unity?

Saturday: Philippians 2:3-4Why do you think so many Christians struggle to put the needs of others before their own? What is one thing you could do today to put the interests of others before yours?

Monday Philippians 2:5. Why is it important in our relationships with other believers to have the same mindset as Christ Jesus?

Tuesday: Philippians 2:6-7 What lessons can we learn from the relationship between God the Father and God the Son in these two verses?

Wednesday: Philippians 2:8. How did Jesus humble Himself by becoming one of us (human)?

Thursday: Philippians 2:9-11. What was the result of Christ’s willingness to humble Himself. What do you think will be our result if we learn to put the interests of others before our own?

Philippians 1:19-30

As we continue in chapter 1 of the book of Philippines, we see Paul making a case for joy in life or in death. Being joyful is a command and not just a suggestion. Too often we mistake happiness for joy but let us never allow the enemy to trade our precious joy for cheap happiness.

Friday: Philippians 1:19What was Paul referring to when he said what has happened to him would turn out for his his deliverance?

Saturday: Philippians 1:20What does Paul mean when he says Christ will be exalted in his body?

Monday: Philippians 1:21What would be the result if Paul lives? What would the result if he dies?

Tuesday: Philippians 1: 22–26. What was Paul’s big dilemma? What did Paul have to say about the Church boasting in Christ?

Wednesday: Philippians 1:27What does it mean to conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the gospel? What are some of the things you do to conduct yourself in this manner?

Thursday: Philippians 1:28–30What two things did God Grant to the people in the Philippian church?

Philippians 1:12-18

Paul is in prison in Rome writing to the Philippian believers.  This week we will see the confidence and joy that Paul had, even in his chains, knowing that God was at work and the gospel was being advanced.

Friday: Philippians 1:12 What has happened to Paul?  How do you feel his imprisonment was able to advance the gospel?   See also 2 Tim 2:8-9

Saturday: Philippians 1:13 Who do you think is the “everyone else”?

Monday: Philippians 1:14 How did Paul’s chains build confidence? How did his imprisonment dispel fear?

Tuesday: Philippians 1:1:15 What does it look like to preach out of envy and rivalry? How would you feel if someone was using you as an example of what not to do as a Christian? Or speaking against your ministry?

Wednesday: Philippians 1:16-17 What is the difference between those preaching out of love (love for whom?) and those who are preaching out of selfish ambition?

Thursday: Philippians 1:18 What did Paul consider the most important thing? It is said there is no such thing as bad publicity: Would you be able to let your own name be tarnished for the advancement of the Gospel?
